Write postcards to people experiencing voter suppression in swing states across the country. Reclaim Our Vote campaigns are non-partisan campaigns that focus on getting out the vote in states or districts with large number of Black voters for important state wide and federal races. Our goal is to mobilize voters to make their voices heard in elections. Please contact Ken Andrus for more information.
Stuff Envelopes with our Vote Your UU Values Election Guide!

We will be stuffing envelopes at Common Flame. The envelopes will contain the 2026 Vote Your UU Values Election Guide for members of the congregation. Common Flame FE students are encouraged and welcome.
Colorado Black Equity Study Commission

Attend a meeting of the Black Coloradan Racial Equity Study Commission. The CO Black equity study was commissioned by Colorado voters in 2024. These meetings typically entail reviewing research, coordinating community feedback, and planning economic analyses to form state-level policy recommendations based on the historical findings of the racial equity study and community feedback.
Come and learn how new research into CO Black history is translating into potential new policies in health, education, and more. This meeting is open to the public.
League of Women Voters & Common Flame CAN Jeffco County Candidate Forum

County Commissioner candidates will answer questions from the LWV & CAN. Candidates for all offices (Commissioner, Sheriff, Clerk & Recorder, Treasurer, etc.) will be available for a meet & greet. This event is open to the public.
UU Colorado Action Network Solidarity Summit

Solidarity Summit, organized by UUCAN (UU Colorado Action Network), focusing on defeating the two anti-trans ballot measures in Colorado. Held in Lafayette at Boulder Valley UU Fellowship. Join us! Solidarity, community, action, skill-building, community and faith partners. We come together to build power in bringing our UU values to the public square. We need you! Join us and bring others.
Test Your Immigration IQ

Activity designed to test knowledge and awareness of the conditions for immigrants and others threatened as well as the status of Immigration in our area, in Colorado and around the country. Every week of the challenge we will have six questions at our table. Lift the flap for the answer. The questions will change each week.

All Kids Belong: People of Faith Canvass for Every Child

Join people of faith from across our community as we come together to affirm a simple truth: all kids belong. Transgender youth deserve the same opportunity as every other child to grow up safe, loved, supported, and free to be themselves.
We’ll go door-to-door in our community and invite our neighbors to join us in defending every child’s right to belong. No prior canvassing experience is necessary! We’ll provide training, materials, and support.
League of Women Voters & Common Flame CAN Ballot Issues Forum

This is an informational event to explain the ballot issues on the 2026 ballot, and it will follow with the positions that the League of Women Voters and Common Flame CAN take on the ballot issues. This event is open to the public.
Help sell pumpkins at the Habitat for Humanity Pumpkin Patches

Pumpkins Build Houses! Each October, Common Flame works with other faith-based groups to sell pumpkins. The money raised goes to help our local Habitat for Humanity build houses. The Pumpkin Patch in Arvada is located at Community of Grace Presbyterian Church at 78th and Wadsworth (7755 Vance Dr). Volunteers are needed to unload pumpkins on October 9 at 4:00 pm or to signup for a 4 hour shift to sell pumpkins (10-2 or 2-6) from October 10 through October 31.
Daily volunteers are needed so fulfill your Social Justice Challenge hours at this three week long event!

Dancing with Deadpool: The 27-year-long Colorado River Crisis

The Colorado River provides water for 40 million people in seven states for cities, tribes, industry, power plants, nature, and agriculture. Due mostly to climate change, flows are down dramatically and big reservoirs are headed for ‘deadpool’. What does this mean Coloradoans? What can be done about this? What can individuals do to minimize the harm? Our presenter, Brad Udall, is a top Colorado River expert at CSU.
Guatemala Fiesta

The annual Guatemala Fiesta celebrates the long relationship between Common Flame UU (formerly JUC) and the Mayan community of Rabinal, Guatemala. We celebrate the amazing scholarship students and their community and we celebrate our very generous donors. There will be music and dancing, food including everyone’s favorite tamales, stories from this year’s travelers and from the students.

Family Promise Hosting

This program serves families at risk of or experiencing homelessness in the Denver area. That means transporting them, feeding them, being there and making sure they have a welcoming, safe place to sleep.
Common Flame, along with many churches in the metro area rotate housing these families for a week. Each church creates their own “village” to make sure the families are well cared for. From Nov. 15 to Nov. 22 we will be caring for several families.
